JOB VACANCY - MIDWIVES

Direct Reports: Midwife Supervisor, Midwife Activity Manager.
Position status: Full-time
Nationality:        Tanzanian
Location:            Nduta Refugee Camp, Kibondo District

Job Summary
Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and new-born caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications in large multicultural and multidisciplinary team.
Required Criteria
Minimum Educational Qualification: Bachelor Degree of Nursing/Midwifery Professional Registration: Evidence of current Registration with Tanzania Nursing and Midwifery Council
(NOTE: Those without minimum Bachelor Degree or Registration need not apply)
Experience: Mandatory 2 years of previous experience as a midwife (previous experience in other NGO’s an asset)
Languages:  English/French (fluent, oral & written). Swahili is an asset
Competences: Results, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, service
Main Responsibilities
o Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care, neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care
o Ensure implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC/delivery and PNC consultations
o Collaborate with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
o Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria
o Guarantee a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment
o Properly follow up all new born babies from delivery until discharge. Ensure administrative procedures
o Participate in the organisation of the ward
o Conduct normal deliveries independently
o Manage obstetric emergencies; identify cases needing referral and send them in time
